As I prepare to present a talk in December about my book Do You Know How to Talk with Your Young Child? Learn the 4 Steps Connect Approach to Converse and Connect, I’ve been looking at websites and podcasts related to effective and mindful parenting communication.
I’ve found a few sites that appear to resonate with my ideas and plan to share them with you over the next few weeks. I invite you to provide feedback if you’d like to!
A few days ago, I listened to a podcast called Imperfect Mommying: Better Parenting Through Self-Healing, hosted by Alysia Lyons I was intrigued by the title, because it certainly resonates with my belief that parents have a responsibility to be the best they can be in order to role-model self-awareness and responsibility for their children.
I wasn’t disappointed in the few podcasts I listened to. One, I would like to share with you had guest Amy Rost, a certified Pilates teacher, who changed her profession as she struggled coping with a child having a serious, debilitating illness as well as three other younger children, and a corporate job. She found a way of making space for her own physical and emotional needs, in addition to learning skills to enhance her child’s health issues and being a good mom to her younger children. The interchange between her and her host, Alysia, modeled the importance of parents having the support of a peers who understand and share at least some of the same challenges.
