The Whimsical World of Wizened Owl Rocks and Chipmunk Shenanigans

I’ve been so busy finishing projects, I was delighted to have a quiet, misty day with the vestiges of Hurricane Debbie seeming to slow everything down.

My sidekick, Calli (Callipoo or Calliope Jane), seemed bored enough to bark and grumble at the lone chipmunk in the back yard cavorting around our small pond and waterfall. Checking out what she was barking at gave me a chance to solve a wee mystery I’ve puzzled about.

You see, I have some round stones with stone eyes embedded in them that makes them look like wizened old owls sitting around our pond.  They’re very heavy, yet sometimes I find them lying on their sides and wondered what would have knocked them over.  Now, I know! The little chipmunk likes to jump up on the top of them, perch there for a while and then leap off suddenly at any little noise he hears.  (I tried to get a photo for you, but I couldn’t get a closeup without trudging out into the mist and rain and subsequently scaring the little creature away.)

Now perhaps you’re wondering what this has to do with the subject of my books and projects. I have to admit observing my silly little dog and the fascinating events that transpire around me just gives me appreciation for the world and its creatures. I love them and hope we can coexist in a healthy and peaceful way. I guess that desire for health and peace inspires my attempts to write uplifting and whimsical material.

Below are some of my ugly rocks, upright at this moment.

Be well, my friends,

Suanne
