Bridges of Resilience: A Teenage Journey of Friendship and Courage | 4-Step Approach Novel

As I was considering how to announce my upcoming book, my first novel, I realized that I focus my writing (articles, non-fiction, and fiction) on teaching tales designed to challenge my readers to explore positive values, mindfully observe their environment, develop greater self-awareness, and ultimately increase joy and life satisfaction through their relationships.

What does that mean? For decades I have used a 4-step approach to interact with myself, the environment, and other people:  I stretch and relax my body, I focus my attention, I try to use simple and effective communication techniques, and I engage with others and the world around me. In following that process I find that seemingly unimportant observations in the natural world, events that seem like coincidences, and interactions with others can open me to joy, wisdom, and a broader understanding of how we as individuals fit into the universe. By setting these techniques into simple stories, readers can identify their own strengths, awareness, and resources for problem-solving.

Bridges of Resilience, A Teenage Journey of Friendship, Courage, and Discovery—A young teen’s coming-of-age journey from self-doubt, family disruption, and peer bullying to self-respect and personal courage. Nina’s is a heroine’s journey, supported by Harry, her companion, and loyal English Setter; Alex, her childhood friend, neighbor, and ardent admirer; Meredith, Nina’s alter ego-cocky, outgoing, and adventurous; and Miguel, intelligent, happy, and kind. Through friendships and community support, this uplifting story sees Nina, and her bully grow in their determination and coping strategies despite family difficulties.

In addition to teens about to enter high school or who are currently experiencing the challenges of adolescence, the book also would appeal to readers who enjoy character-driven narratives that delve into emotional and psychological growth in addition to family dynamics and bullying. Those readers might include guidance counselors, teachers, and mental health counselors.

The 100 Covers company has designed the cover and I like it! The book will be available on Amazon in ebook and paperback formats. More information will be coming. I would appreciate a review if you’re interested in reading the book.  Let me know and I will let you know when free ebooks will be available. drsuanne@4stepsconnect.com
